GIVE with Sealand

At Sealand we have a heart for giving. Giving back to our planet, giving back to our people and now giving back to the community. GIVE is Sealand’s first giveback initiative in partnership with various organizations across South Africa that we believe align with our values. Through the GIVE initiative, for every R1 500 that is spent, we GIVE an upcycled school bag to a student as a way of both giving back to the community, but also using our unique skill set to create bags that continue to keep waste out of landfill. Our big goal for this year is to donate over 3000 bags to our key organisation partners!
Some key partners so far.

THE SENTINEL OCEAN ALLIANCE

Sealand's first giveback initiative was in partnership with Sentinel Ocean Alliance (SOA). SOA was founded to create Ocean based opportunities for the youth of Hout Bay. They aim to teach Basic Ocean and environmental skills to previously disadvantaged youth from the Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu communities. Using Lifesaving, surfing, the Waves for Change programme and their Parley Ocean School, they hope to give the kids in these communities opportunities to better their lives and the lives of their family’s, introducing them to the Ocean Economy.

They have established a safe space where kids from these communities can safely learn, play and find future economic opportunities through the ocean. Whether it is from surfing, Lifesaving, mentorship or education about the environment, they want everyone to feel welcome and safe. They want people to come down and be inspired by the ocean and for those individuals to have a place of refuge.

THE TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM FOUNDATION

The Two Oceans Aquarium, situated in Cape Town’s popular V&A Waterfront, has a 24-year history of inspiring people to care about our oceans. The Aquarium is a key player in raising environmental awareness through its high-quality exhibits, its conservation and education programmes, and its sustainability initiatives. It founded the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation, a Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation, to promote and expand on the excellent educational, conservation and research initiatives.

The Foundation continues to grow its wide range of public benefit activities while increasing positive social and environmental impact through sharing information and inspiring behaviour change. Our programmes relate to all the Sustainable Development Goals, with full alignment to SDG’s.

We are so excited for the various NGOs that we have lined up for 2021 and will be sure to share all their amazing stories here.  We continue to thank you for your tremendous support and brand love, because of it, we are able to extend this generosity to those around us.
